(AN)ORGANIC: An Adaptation Guide for the Age of Artificial Intelligence

In a present mainly shaped by artificial intelligence, where the boundaries between emotion, consciousness, and work are constantly shifting, the (AN)ORGANIC project, initiated by the VAR Association, proposes an interdisciplinary exploration of these changes. It engages 20 individuals of the Internet Generation (ages 18-35) from Bucharest and Iași. The initiative combines research, training, and artistic creation within a participatory framework, where art serves as a medium for reflection and dialogue on our shared present and imagined future.

What happens within (AN)ORGANIC?

The project unfolds over a period of seven months and is structured around five key directions:

  1. Research and Documentation:

A journey through digital archives, alongside a research residency at the Computer History Museum in Slovenia, focused on understanding how computing and technology have evolved and shaped society.

  1. Training and Methodology:

Training sessions in AI techniques (covering prompt design and machine learning) for the entire project team, as well as the development of an interdisciplinary methodology shaped by experts in human resources, psychology, and IT.

  1. Free Online Course:

A program designed for a group of 20 young participants (ages 18–35), selected through an open call in April. The course investigates the role of artificial intelligence as an (in)visible partner in relation to emotion, consciousness, and work. Emphasizing resilience, the workshops provide participants with the conceptual and practical tools necessary to approach technology as a resource for adaptation and professional reorientation.

  1. Masterclass for Students:

The project’s outcomes will be presented in the autumn through a masterclass addressed to students from UNAGE Iași and the University of Arts in Târgu Mureș, equipping future artists with practical tools and a set of best practices for engaging with the art–technology interface.

  1. Artistic Production:

The process will culminate in a performance co-produced with Teatrul de Comedie, integrating the experiences and collective narratives developed throughout the entire project. The final production will be presented to the public in October 2026, following a tour that includes Bucharest (Teatrul de Comedie), Târgu Mureș (in partnership with the University of Arts), and Iași (as part of The Iași International Theatre Festival for Young Audience).

“Beyond its innovative and experimental dimensions, (AN)ORGANIC proposes a practice of balance at a time when the boundaries between the organic and the inorganic are gradually fading. The project provides the tools and critical perspective required to navigate this hybrid present without losing our moral compass. At its heart, it is an invitation to move on from passive users to conscious creators of our own future, one in which the most important technology remains the human capacity to feel and to connect with one another.”

— Vero Nica, Project Manager
