Piața Romană subway station

Starting from January, 27th, 7 p.m. you can visit the underground art gallery in Piața Romană subway station, part of the M City project.

The gallery consists of both permanent and temporary works.

14 artists of the new generation, voluntarily involved, transform the underground space into a sincere dialogue between the travelling public and the contemporary art, on themes inspired by the present we are all part of. The works, whether they are murals or made in the paste-up technique, object installation, graphic works or AR (augmented reality), offer numerous reasons to hang around in the intimate space of the exhibiting artists and reflect on the messages they share.

Thought and created especially for the Bucharest subway, M City is dedicated to visual arts, born from the desire to exploit the underground urban spaces, by facilitating the dialogue between artists and the travelling public in transit. M City offers a new perspective of the usual itinerary, making room for a cultural micro universe that we don’t have time to explore properly on the surface, because we are more often preoccupied with our everyday worries.

After Izvor, Piața Romană is the second subway station to join the M City project, after the launch in Timpuri Noi station, which marked the 42nd anniversary of Metrorex, through a series of archive photos from the period when the construction of the underground galleries began.
